In the early days we often closed the guesthouse and went on vacation. After a number of years, we decided to hire a manager and make extra rooms. The manager lives in the guesthouse and runs the entire guesthouse. That means we still travel a lot or go to our apartment near Ballito. Social contacts and basic facilities such as shops, restaurants, hospital, medical centre, airport and sports in the area are important to us. Good school facilities are also nearby. St Lucia has all this to offer. It is the most beautiful, pleasant and safest village in South Africa and is also internationally recognized as a major tourist destination. Summer and winter nice weather, subtropical, beautiful beaches and other well-known wildlife parks around us. A mecca for fish lovers with the possibility to purchase your own boat and store it next to the house. After living in our guesthouse with love and pleasure for 17 years, we have come to an age to take a new step. Not an easy step to let go of our beautiful house/guest house and really retire. We enjoy living in St. Lucia, but we realize, given our age, that it is time to change our lives and downsize. However, we are not leaving South Africa, because this has become our new homeland. Our house/guesthouse (modern architecture in an African context, Dutch design) borders directly on the Wetland Park with complete privacy and tranquility. Many birds (bird paradise), small antelopes, monkeys and other small game, but also hippos visit our garden regularly (also walk freely through the streets). With our large and deep saltwater swimming pool, it is a pleasure to enjoy peace and nature from a lounger. In the first period we lived in the big house, but because we wanted to rent out some more rooms and needed an apartment for the manager, we created our living space on the first floor in 2 large rooms (± 120 m2) with a view of the sea. If you buy the house as an investment, these rooms can be used as guest rooms. The floor plans of the ground floor and 1st floor of the high-rise building can also be easily changed to the original layout. We used to use the ground floor as a bedroom and office and the 1st floor as a large 120 m2 living room/kitchen (now split into 2 large rooms). The 2 layout options are available on photos and drawings. Other formats are also possible through adjustments. The current owner, as a former architect, is available to assist with this. Zomer en winter mooi weer, subtropisch, prachtige stranden en andere bekende wildparken om ons heen.
