The history of Ex . Convento Canneto goes back to the 12th century when Matteo di Tebaldo donated the possession to the hermitage of Fonte Avellana near Frontone, that houses a monastic community of the Camaldolese Order (part of the Benedictine Order). From 1810 to 1845 the property was owned by Eugenio Beauharnais, son of Josephine, the first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. Since 1868, the ex. Convento is owned by the current owners: the Tagnani family. The house dates from 1714 and has for many years served as the headquarters of the farm as well as a summer residence for the later monks of Fonte Avallana.
