De rots maakt deel uit van een klein vogelreservaat. Calpe is een toeristische badplaats vanwege het relatief goede klimaat. Er zijn verschillende appartementengebouwen aan de boulevard, evenals cafés, restaurants en disco's. De omliggende heuvels staan vol met villa's. Calpe heeft twee grote stranden, links en rechts van de Ifach. Het oude strand, El Arenal, ligt tussen de stad en het Ifach. Het nieuwe strand, La Fossa, is het deel ten noorden van de Ifach. Beide hebben een boulevard over de hele lengte van het strand. Het oude centrum is nog intact en bevat sporen van de Moorse overheersing.
