Op dit moment zijn er ongeveer dertig appartementen te huur met een gemiddelde maandelijkse huurprijs van zo'n €847. De prijzen variëren van ongeveer €625 tot €1690 per maand.
Appartementen vormen ruim zestig procent van het woningaanbod in Oostende. Deze zijn veelal gebouwd rond het jaar 1960 en hebben gemiddeld iets meer dan vijf kamers per woning, wat net iets minder is dan het Belgische gemiddelde. De meeste gebouwen bestaan uit appartementscomplexen of andere soortgelijke gebouwen.
De stad is goed verbonden met verschillende snelwegen; vooral de A10 / E40 is binnen twee minuten te bereiken vanuit het centrum, terwijl ook de A18 / E40 binnen tien minuten bereikt kan worden. Openbaar vervoer verloopt via tramlijn 0 langs de kustlijn en een uitgebreid netwerk van buslijnen, wat pendelen naar naburige gemeenten mogelijk maakt.
Voor gezinnen zijn er diverse scholen verspreid over Oostende: kinderdagverblijven, kleuterscholen, basisscholen en middelbare scholen bevinden zich allemaal in de gemeente. Winkels zoals Carrefour, Delhaize en Colruyt zorgen ervoor dat dagelijkse boodschappen dichtbij te regelen zijn. Voor milieubewuste bewoners zijn er elf oplaadpunten voor elektrische auto's beschikbaar en mogelijkheden voor fiets- en autodelen via respectievelijk Blue-bike en Cambio stations. Het vliegveld Ostend-Bruges International Airport ligt op slechts enkele minuten afstand met de auto.
