Location
Filsdorf is an idyllic village in the municipality of Dalheim, in the south-east of the country. The village is best known for its Roman ancestry. The Gallo-Roman settlement ‘Vicus Ricciacus’ near present-day Dalheim was located on the important transport route between the Mediterranean and the Rhine, and included several temples and thermal baths. The highlight of the archaeological finds was the discovery in 1985 of a theatre with a capacity of 3,500 to 4,000 spectators. The Roman character of the site is commemorated today by an obelisk topped by a Roman eagle on the plateau overlooking the village. The ‘Ricciacus Frënn’ association also organises guided tours of the Gallo-Roman theatre and the vicus on summer weekends.

Dalheim has a number of restaurants and small shops. The ‘La Cerisaie’ home run by the Kräizbierg Foundation is located at the entrance to the village, near the school grounds, where people with physical disabilities can find supervised accommodation.

The ‘Charly Gaul’ cycle path (PC11) runs for 14 km from Fentange to Ellange, passing through Roeser, Weiler-la-Tour and Filsdorf.

Filsdorf is in the immediate vicinity of several large towns such as Frisange and Remich, as well as being close to the French and German borders. The Esplanade in Remich invites you to stroll around the market every third Monday and to take part in the monthly flea market.

The ‘Filsdorf, Op der Plaz’ bus stop is a 5-minute walk from the property and is served by bus routes 171, 180, 192 and 455.

Children in cycles 1 to 3 are educated at the Kierlingerstrooss school in Dalheim. There is also a pre-school and the ‘An den Wolleken’ halfway house. Cycle 4 is taught in the old school building in Dalheim.
